Często piszę o popularnych adaptacjach, które okazują się blockbusterami lub biją rekordy popularności na platformach streamingowych, ale pamiętam także o niezależnych produkcjach. Dziś o jednej z nich.
,,This Is Not a Test" w reżyserii Adama MacDonalda to mała niezależna kanadyjska produkcja na podstawie książki o tym samym tytule, autorstwa Courtney Summers. Oficjalnie prace nad adaptacją zapowiedziano na początku zeszłego roku. Zdjęcia ruszyły w lutym, a finalna wersja filmu zadebiutowała już w październiku 2025 r. na 18 edycji Toronto After Dark Film Festival oraz Brooklyn Horror Film Festival. Reżyser, Adam MacDonald napisał także scenariusz.

W zeszłym roku wydawnictwo Moondrive wznowiło ,,Sadie" Courtney Summers w ramach swojej nowej linii wydawniczej – Moondrive Shadow z thrillerami młodzieżowymi. Książkę poprzednio wydało We Need YA. Nad tłumaczeniem ,,Sadie" pracowała Anna Tomczyk. ,,This Is Not a Test" zostało wydane pierwszy raz w 2012 r. Czyli w okresie rozkwitu boomu na zombie. Chwilę wcześniej został dobrze przyjęty serial ,,The Walking Dead" (2010-2022) na podstawie komiksów. Wciąż kojarzę reklamy filmu ,,Wieczni żywy" (2013), ale nigdy go nie obejrzałam, a nawet zapomniałam jego tytuł i musiałam go szukać, pisząc ten post. W kolejnych latach zombie wciąż były obecne w mediach. Ukazał się film ,,Duma i uprzedzenie i zombie"(2015) oraz serial "iZombie" (2015. To tylko kilka tytułów z tego okresu, które kojarzę.

W kinie horrory to jeden z tych gatunków, który rzadko okazuje się finansową klapą, ponieważ przeważnie przeznacza się na nie mniejsze budżety i ma oddaną grupę odbiorców. Film ,,This Is Not a Test" doczekał się tylko limitowanej dystrybucji w Kanadzie i Stanach Zjednoczonych. Zapewne szybko trafi na VOD w innych krajach. Na jednej stronie widział, że w Polsce ma mieć premierę w marcu, ale nie są to potwierdzone informacje. Tymczasem od dzisiaj niektórzy widzowie zza oceanem mogą obejrzeć go na wielkim ekranie.
