Rick Riordan postanowił po latach wrócić do tej serii u już jesienią ukaże się ,,Percy Jackson and the Olympians: Chalice of the Gods". Dla mnie zapowiada się comfort book roku. The original heroes from The Lightning Thief are reunited for their biggest challenge yet: getting Percy to college when the gods are standing in his way.
After saving the world multiple times, Percy Jackson is hoping to have a normal senior year. Unfortunately, the gods aren’t quite done with him. Percy will have to fulfill three quests in order to get the necessary three letters of recommendation from Mount Olympus for college.
The first quest is to help Zeus’s cup-bearer retrieve his goblet before it falls into the wrong hands. Can Percy, Grover, and Annabeth find it in time?
Readers new to Percy Jackson and fans who have been awaiting this reunion for more than a decade will delight equally in this latest hilarious take on Greek mythology.
Demigods Nico di Angelo and Will Solace must endure the terrors of Tartarus to rescue an old friend in this thrilling adventure co-written by New York Times #1 best-selling author Rick Riordan and award-winning author Mark Oshiro.
Percy Jackson fans, rejoice! Nico and Will have a book of their own!
As the son of Hades, Nico di Angelo has been through so much, from the premature deaths of his mother and sister, to being outed against his will, to losing his friend Jason during the trials of Apollo. But there is a ray of sunshine in his life—literally: his boyfriend, Will Solace, the son of Apollo. Together the two demigods can overcome any obstacle or foe. At least, that's been the case so far...
Now Nico is being plagued by a voice calling out to him from Tartarus, the lowest part of the Underworld. He thinks he knows who it is: a reformed Titan named Bob whom Percy and Annabeth had to leave behind when they escaped Hades's realm. Nico's dreams and Rachel Dare's latest prophecy leave little doubt in Nico's mind that Bob is in some kind of trouble. Nico has to go on this quest, whether Mr. D and Chiron like it or not. And of course Will insists on coming with. But can a being made of light survive in the darkest part of the world? and what does the prophecy mean that Nico will have to "leave something of equal value behind?"
Nico will have to face demons both internal and external as his relationship with Will is tested to the core in this standalone adventure featuring two of the most popular characters in the Percy Jackson saga.
Complete your Nico di Angelo collection with these series by Rick Riordan: Percy Jackson and the Olympians • The Heroes of Olympus • The Trials of Apollo
O dwóch pierwszych tomach pisałam TUTAJ i TUTAJ
,,The Atlas Six" Olivie Blake od You&YA to jedno z moich największych, pozytywnych zaskoczeń tego roku. Nie wiedziałam o niej nic dopóki nie ogłoszono polskiej premiery. Całkowicie przepadłam w klimacie Dark Academic i stylu autorki. Fabuła krąży wokół nauki, eksperymentów i władzy.
,,The Atlas Paradox" miało premierę w Stanach Zjednoczonych w październiku. The Atlas Paradox is the long-awaited sequel to Olivie Blake's New York Times bestselling dark academic sensation The Atlas Six―guaranteed to have even more yearning, backstabbing, betrayal, and chaos.
Six magicians were presented with the opportunity of a lifetime.
Five are now members of the Society.
Two paths lie before them.
All must pick a side.
Alliances will be tested, hearts will be broken, and The Society of Alexandrians will be revealed for what it is: a secret society with raw, world-changing power, headed by a man whose plans to change life as we know it are already under way.
"The Atlas Six introduced six of the most devious, talented, and flawed characters to ever find themselves in a magical library, and then sets them against one another in a series of stunning betrayals and reversals. As much a delicious contest of wit, will, and passion as it is of magic...half mystery, half puzzle, and wholly a delight."―New York Times bestselling author Holly Black
,,How to Die in Space: A Journey Through Dangerous Astrophysical Phenomena" Paul M. Sutter.
A brilliant and breathtakingly vivid tour of the universe, describing the physics of the dangerous, the deadly, and the scary in the cosmos.
So you’ve fallen in love with space and now you want to see it for yourself, huh? You want to witness the birth of a star, or visit the black hole at the center of our galaxy? You want to know if there are aliens out there, or how to travel through a wormhole? You want the wonders of the universe revealed before your very eyes?
Well stop, because all that will probably kill you.
From mundane comets in our solar backyard to exotic remnants of the Big Bang, from dying stars to young galaxies, the universe may be beautiful, but it’s treacherous. Through metaphors and straightforward language, it breathes life into astrophysics, unveiling how particles and forces and fields interplay to create the drama in the heavens above us.
,,Maps of Our Spectacular Bodies" Maddie Mortimer
Longlisted for the International Booker PrizeThis lyrical debut novel is at once a passionate coming-of-age story, a meditation on illness and death, and a kaleidoscopic journey through one woman’s life—told in part by the malevolent voice of her disease.Lia, her husband Harry, and their beloved daughter, Iris, are a precisely balanced family of three. With Iris struggling to navigate the social tightrope of early adolescence, their tender home is a much-needed refuge. But when a sudden diagnosis threatens to derail each of their lives, the secrets of Lia’s past come rushing into the present, and the world around them begins to transform.Deftly guided through time, we discover the people who shaped Lia’s youth; from her deeply religious mother to her troubled first love. In turn, each will take their place in the shifting landscape of Lia’s body; at the center of which dances a gleeful narrator, learning her life from the inside, growing more emboldened by the day.Pivoting between the domestic and the epic, the comic and the heart-breaking, this astonishing novel unearths the darkness and levity of one woman’s life to symphonic effect.
To opowieść o utracie domu, kraju i tożsamości.
,,Madly, Deeply: The Diaries of Alan Rickman"
Posłowie Rima Horton, Emma Thompson
An international bestseller
One of Barnes & Noble's Best Biographies & Memoirs of 2022
Selected by the Guardian as one of the best books of 2022
Madly, Deeplyis a rare invitation into the mind of Alan Rickman―one of the most magnetic, beloved performers of our time.
From his breakout role in Die Hard to his outstanding, multifaceted performances in the Harry Potter films, Galaxy Quest, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, and more, Alan Rickman cemented his legacy as a world-class actor. His air of dignity, his sonorous voice, and the knowing wit he brought to each role continue to captivate audiences today.
But Rickman’s ability to breathe life into projects wasn't confined to just his performances. As you'll find, Rickman's diaries detail the extraordinary and the ordinary, flitting between worldly and witty and gossipy, while remaining utterly candid throughout. He takes us inside his home, on trips with friends across the globe, and on the sets of films and plays ranging from Sense and Sensibility, to Noël Coward's Private Lives, to the final film he directed, A Little Chaos.
Running from 1993 to his death in 2016, the diaries provide singular insight into Rickman's public and private life. Reading them is like listening to Rickman chatting to a close companion. Meet Rickman the consummate professional actor, but also the friend, the traveler, the fan, the director, the enthusiast; in short, the man beyond the icon.
Madly, Deeply features a photo insert, a foreword by Emma Thompson, and an afterword by Rima Horton.
,,Unwell Women: Misdiagnosis and Myth in a Man-Made World" Elinor Cleghorn
A trailblazing, conversation-starting history of women’s health—from the earliest medical ideas about women’s illnesses to hormones and autoimmune diseases—brought together in a fascinating sweeping narrative.
Elinor Cleghorn became an unwell woman ten years ago. She was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease after a long period of being told her symptoms were anything from psychosomatic to a possible pregnancy. As Elinor learned to live with her unpredictable disease she turned to history for answers, and found an enraging legacy of suffering, mystification, and misdiagnosis.
In Unwell Women, Elinor Cleghorn traces the almost unbelievable history of how medicine has failed women by treating their bodies as alien and other, often to perilous effect. The result is an authoritative and groundbreaking exploration of the relationship between women and medical practice, from the "wandering womb" of Ancient Greece to the rise of witch trials across Europe, and from the dawn of hysteria as a catchall for difficult-to-diagnose disorders to the first forays into autoimmunity and the shifting understanding of hormones, menstruation, menopause, and conditions like endometriosis.
Packed with character studies and case histories of women who have suffered, challenged, and rewritten medical orthodoxy—and the men who controlled their fate—this is a revolutionary examination of the relationship between women, illness, and medicine. With these case histories, Elinor pays homage to the women who suffered so strides could be made, and shows how being unwell has become normalized in society and culture, where women have long been distrusted as reliable narrators of their own bodies and pain. But the time for real change is long overdue: answers reside in the body, in the testimonies of unwell women—and their lives depend on medicine learning to listen.
,,Widows of the Ice: The Women that Scott’s Antarctic Expedition Left Behind" Anne Fletcher
A moving and original account of the effect of Scott's tragic expedition on the men's wives and families, who fame and history have overlooked.
This story begins with perhaps one of the most iconic moments in British history: the death of Scott of the Antarctic. But it continues where previous histories have stopped. Unlike other books about the famous expedition, which has become such a powerful symbol of heroic failure and British bravery, Widows of the Ice examines the rest of the human story. Uniquely, it shows how the expedition affected the people closest to its members, beyond the British public who came to lionize them. These were the wives and families left behind by their brave, dead men.
As Scott wrote in his last letter, 'I do not regret this journey, which has shown that Englishmen can endure hardships, help one another and meet death with as great a fortitude as ever in the past.'
But what was behind this extraordinary type of bravery, where death sometimes seemed more honorable than success? And how much did those who loved and depended on the explorers support their endeavors, when it meant that they could lose everything?
Widows of the Ice not only provides a fascinating new account of one of modern British history's best-known events – a story that we thought we knew – but also sheds light on the culture that drove men to risk themselves in faraway lands, to inflict fear and loss of their families, which was an essential ingredient in the values of the British Empire and the nation's sense of identity until surprisingly recent times.
With reference to original sources including personal diaries and letters, Widows of the Ice puts a human face to the Scot Expedition, and shows how the women left behind by their heroic husbands suffered and survived, unable to express their sadness in a country that venerated their husbands' sacrifices.

Swoją drogą ,,What if? Art of the Series" na razie wyleciało całkowicie z ich rozkładówki
W każdym razie jeszcze do niedawna ,,Marvel Studios' Eternals: The Art Of The Movie" miało mieć premierę 14 lutego, na dzień dzisiejszy jest to 25 kwietnia.
,,Star Trek - A Woman's Trek: From Uhura to Burnham - Star Trek's Female Stars on Six Decades of Change and Empowerment" Nana Visitor
Star Trek - A Woman's Trek: From Uhura to Burnham - Star Trek's Female Stars on Six Decades of Change and Empowerment
Star Trek, from the beginning, has empowered women, creating feminist icons. Deep Space Nine's Nana Visitor looks at how - and the enduring, ongoing impact.
Nana Visitor played Major Kira Nerys on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine , evolving her into one of the franchise's - and pop-culture history's - most formidable female characters.
But Visitor wasn't first; other Star Trek actresses paved the way. In the new book, A Woman's Trek , Visitor speaks with and pays tribute to those who came before her.
"Fifty-five years ago, Nichelle Nichols as Lt. Uhura took women and people of color into a newly imagined future," Visitor says. "But she did it in a mini-skirt. It was still 1966 after all. Each Star Trek show both reflected the culture of its time and imagined a more equitable future. How much did we lead the culture into imagining new roles for women? How much did the culture shape us? I'm going to ask these questions to every woman I can. Women on camera, behind the camera, behind the scenes, behind the men, even, and the women we inspired to imagine more for themselves. I want to talk to them all and see what it says about us and about them."
In Star Trek: A Woman's Trek, Nana interviews a diverse collection of Star Trek actors, Star Trek Writers, and other notable people such as Stacey Abrams, Seth McFarlane, and astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti.
This book is packed with hundreds of photos, including behind the scenes images rarely seen.
This is a book by women, for women - and a must for all fans of Star Trek's long history!
Included actors: Kate Mulgrew, Sonequa Martin Green, Jeri Ryan, Roxann Dawson, Terry Farrell, Mary Wiseman, Denise Crosby, Gates McFadden, Penny Johnson Jerald, Nicole de Boer, Hannah Cheesman, France Nuyen, BarBara Luna, Sandy Gimple, Tanya Lemani, Linda Park, Isa Briones, Alison Pill, Tawny Newsome, Noel Wells
Included writers: Hannah Louise Shearer, Melinda Snodgrass, Diane Duane, Lisa Klink, Jeri Taylor, Phyllis Strong, Jane Espenson
Included noteable people: Stacey Abrams, Seth McFarlane, Jess Zimmerman, Samantha Cristoforetti
... and more to come!
Czyli na trzy dni przed Star Trek Day.
